| Summary, Etc. |
"Alice Pembroke has made a career doing what she considers good deeds--for a price. That is to say, she cleans up damaged reputations and helps those women match their unique psychic talents with discreet firms. She knows what it means to have a damaged reputation after her wedding night five years ago when her husband-to-be ended up dead and she ended up with all the blame. Alice is innocent, but any real investigation would only make her the target of the unknown killer. So, she's built a new life helping others with the one thing she can't do for herself. Owen Jones tracked down Alice with the best of intentions. He just wanted to inform her that she may be the heir to a fortune. He doesn't consider himself an heir hunter, though. Rather, his expertise in psychic ancestry forensics allows him to identify criminals with certain talents. The other part is a favor to a friend. But he also has a personal reason for finding Alice. He suspects she has a very unusual talent, one he wants to test and study to satisfy his professional curiosity. What Owen doesn't know is that Alice does not want to be found. And he has unwittingly brought the killer right to the door of her hotel room. Owen interrupts the attack, saving Alice, but they learn they can't actually escape the Hotel of Dreams. Not until their dream sequence is over and they choose the "Escape the Nightmare Hotel" dream. Now the hunted become the hunters as Alice and Owen set out to discover who wants them both dead. To find the answers, they only have each other to trust"-- Provided by publisher.
