Summary, Etc. The Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF) is a worldwide fraternal organization that traces its history back to 18th-century England. The Odd Fellows in America, known for their philanthropy, social service, and charitable work, was founded in Baltimore, Maryland in 1819. This book examines the 200-year history of the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania and the subordinate lodges in the state, each participating in various activities and service projects for the betterment of their communities. The Odd Fellows' presense was signifcant in Pennsylvania, instituting its first lodge in Philadelphia in 1821. The Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania was chartered as a guiding force for the many lodges that followed in every county of the state. Odd Fellowship became the largest fraternal organization in the United States, and Pennsylvania its largest jurisdiction. Committed to forstering good works and compassion, its members are dedicated to helping those in need and making a positive impact on society.
